1/3rd done

Wednesday February 19th was chemo treatment # 4.  This week is winter break so Derek was able to come along again.  He has done a good job of helping pass the time. We also had Neil and Elizabeth along this time so we were happy to have one of the private rooms.  Elizabeth had to catch a train back to Buffalo so we brought her along and Neil took her to the train station about halfway through Sarah's treatment.  Sarah's blood work all came back very stable from the last 3 treatments.  We mentioned to Dr. DeTraglia's  nurse practitioner about the trouble Sarah has been having after chemo with her eyes being dry, itchy and swollen and she gave her a new eye drop that has been working really well so far.  After her chemo on Wednesday Sarah was able to play in her basketball team's sectional game against Waterville.  She said that she would be OK to play as long as she didn't take a nap after the chemo because once she falls asleep she doesn't wake up for a long time.  When we walked into the Little Falls HS gym for the game the entire Waterville team had Sarah's shirts on, it was so amazing to see.  Even though they were wearing the shirts we are happy to say that our Little Falls girls went on to win the game so now they will play in the semifinal game at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse on Sunday.  They will play against Cooperstown, a team that they have beaten twice this season but it will be a tough game.  Cooperstown is also the team that beat them last year in the semi finals so we are hoping for a better outcome this year.  Neil and I want these girls to keep playing as long as possible because they are such an amazing group of girls and they have been so supportive of Sarah through everything.  Not only are they great athletes but they are great friends and we really have come to love each of them.  So keep your fingers crossed and pray that they win on Sunday and can play the next game at The Dome at SU.

Elizabeth came home for the long President's day weekend.  She had Monday and Tuesday off but was unable to get a train out on Tuesday because of mechanical problems so she was able to stay an extra day.  She made it back to school on Wednesday without difficulty.  Mary has been enjoying her winter break by sleeping and sleeping and more sleeping.  Sometimes she gets up to watch netflix or to eat but mostly she has been sleeping.

So up next for Sarah is another PET scan before her next chemo which will tell us how the chemo is working.  Keep the prayers coming so that the scan gives us good news that we are getting closer to being done and having our healthy, crazy girl back.  Thank you all so much for the prayers and positive thoughts. We are sure that it all works because God is good.  Thank you also to cousins Sara, Sierra and Sydney for the beautiful blanket that kept her cozy during this weeks treatment.
